
Born in Waterhouse, Kingston 11, home and headquarter of many reggae/dancehall personalities, such as dubmaster King Tubby, vocal group Black Uhuru, singers Mykal Rose, Junior Reid and Yami Bolo, digital revolutionist King Jammy and many more, 24-year-old singjay Jermaine Beckford, better known as Fire-J, is willing to continue the long tradition of innovation and creativity in music that has put his native neighbourhood on the musical map. With talents ranging from songwriting to music production and now considering engineering, he will be a force to reckon within the music industry.
Fire-J has officially hit the music scene with his electrifying and energetic words of love and unity and is on path to success. A product of the ghetto, having faced enormous hardships and constant violence, he has learned to use his experience in a more powerful and productive way. Fire-J is the strong voice of the youths for today and tomorrow. Through his real and raw music of the things going on in the world, he has gained the respect and appreciation of a lot of people who can understand and relate to his music. A true upcoming messenger of reggae music, teaching and uplifting the fans wherever he goes, Fire-J is a strong advocate of encouraging the ones to live a pure life and unite for a positive cause, as he believes in unity for all.
Now located in the United States, Fire-J is doing business both at the local level with Jamny Productions and international scale with Paris-based Digital Works Records run by producer Nephtali and Cultural Productions. He is fun and open-minded and can always be seen in the studio making music for every ear. His music can be entertaining, serious but always sending a message. He sees his music as part of the natural aspects of life. With influences ranging from I-Wayne, Beres Hammond and Turbulence to Lutan Fyah, Natural Black, Beenie Man and Munga, Fire-J, who also includes Michael Jackson, Lil’ Wayne, Ja Rule and Erikah Badu among his favourite artists, is ready to set the reggae/dancehall world on fire.
