Three old tunes of mine have just been featured on the 14th BuzzMusic Radio Show by Ekral on Radio Svitzlin, based in Czech Republic. The three tunes are actually pre-releases of the songs Curfew, Hit & Run (here called Headlong Rush) and Asylum Seeker (though it has nothing to do with the song Asylum Seeker that came out lately - same name but different tunes). They were released on BuzzMusic/Wipe-Records a few years ago and I didn't know anyone remembered them. You can listen to it again on Ekral's website or from the download link below :

Currently working on a remix of Return Of A Don. I’d like to thank Sage Tyrtle from the Quirky Nomads Podcast for including the original version of this tune on one of her podcast shows and for giving credit where credit is due. Sage Tyrtle is a noted Toronto-based American podcaster. She produces audio drama performances and her works are worth listening to. Her voice fits perfectly to the riddim.

Some tracks have just been remixed to provide you with the best quality in sound. Check out Ghetto Anthem,
Worries Again
and
Curfew. I also plan to remix a few other "old" tracks such as From Bad To Worse, Asylum Seeker
and
Striving For Justice whose mixes are still a bit rough around the edges and need some further EQ-ing.
Also coming soon, a brand new tune :
How Things Ah Gwaan.

2008.04.10

Here we go again with Ephemeral Hospital, a new digital roots/dancehall track, sort of experimental I would say. Beware of the (much too) long intro. I decided to release the two mixes I made from the tune. Both mixes are very similar although the alternative mix might be a tad more well-balanced, with the steel drum-ish Suitcase piano (a.k.a. the pian-esque steel drums) being a tad less upfront. But depending on your taste, you may prefer having a strong lead instrument, as featured in the original mix. One tune, two mixes. Pick up your choice !

2008.03.17

All Over Yonder is a a typical one-drop riddim, with intricate drums, a heavy bassline, sweet guitar sounds, a Rhodes e-piano, some lush synths and a slide flute. Your typical deep roots tune.

2008.02.21

Between The Lines is a heavyweight digital dancehall riddim with hard-hitting drums and airy synths, e-piano and slide-flute. On the flip, Hold On To Your Love is a refix of Wayne Wonder's rendition of En Vogue's "Hold On" (1990). The original rendition was on the "Run Down The World" riddim and was released on Penthouse Records circa 1991.

2008.01.29

Both sides of this release features a drums-laden nyahbinghi riddim entitled Nyahbinghi Chant, with a clanger-like synth and various meditative sounds (a bell-ish synth, a mysterious pad and many others). On the flip, a refix of Beenie Man & Chevelle Franklyn's Dancehall Queen (from the 1997 eponymous movie) here entitled Champion Bubbler.

2007.11.20

Return Of A Don, a straightforward funk/r&b tune, featuring a bubbling digital bassline, crisp drums, some ultra-funky synths, bells and panned pizzicato strings, a whistling clanger-like synth and many more... It has a bit of a crossover feel to it, but don't get me wrong : this is neither the beginning of a bold new direction, nor even an attempt to water down the sound.

2007.10.26

I had no idea of what I was doing with this one, but well... Watch The Ride (4:24) is a new jack swing-tinged rub-a-dub track, with a groovy chord progression, hip-hop-flavoured drums and featuring a very lush production. It also has a very experimental feel to it. Have you ever heard an echoed detuned 8-bit-like chip sounds generator and a glitchy FFT-based synth in a reggae tune ? Probably not, so give it a listen !

2007.10.05

Added a new track entitled Carry Beyond (3:30) - Read carribean. A typical digital rootsy dancehall track featuring a heavy bassline, an intricate drum-machine programming, a slide guitar, a gliding organ, a vocal-sounding analog synth and a phew Rhodes sounds. Enjoy !

2007.09.26

Striving For Justice (4:40) got released ! Go to the catalogue page. Hurry up ! This tune like many others will be featured on Nephtali's forthcoming LP entitled From Bad To Worse to be released online soon.

2007.08.30

Added a new track entitled Going Astray (4:11). A blip-laden digital dancehall track with a heavyweight bassline and hard-hitting drums that some people may find somewhat similar to those played by Sly Dunbar for Xterminator Productions and his own Taxi Records label in the mid-to-late nineties. Enjoy !

2007.07.28

Hit & Run (4:36) got released ! Expect a roots tune "inna militant style" (i.e. with a rockers/stepper framework), a heavy bassline, a rimshot-laden four-to-the-floor drum pattern and some airy and lush synths in the background.  Nuff said ? Enjoy this one !

2007.05.07            OUT NOW !
